Regatta Brand Acquired by Hong Kong Firm |

Li & Fung USA has purchased apparel firm Regatta USA for approximately $145 million.
Regatta is a major player in the private-label clothing market will give Li & Fung USA, a subsidiary of Hong Kong-based Li & Fung Ltd., stronger ties to key retailers such as Kohl’s Department Store, Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and J.C. Penney & Co. Regatta designs and markets high-profile brands such as Simply Vera by Vera Wang, Metro 7 and Daisy Fuentes.
“Regatta is the industry leader in identifying and developing brand opportunities,” said Rick Darling, president of Li & Fung USA. “They will significantly increase our capability to develop and design brands for major retailers in the U.S.”
Regatta’s U.S. headquarters are located at 1450 Broadway, in the Garment District. Chief Executive Haim Dabah and his team will stay on to run the firm, and Mr. Haim will join Li & Fung USA’s executive board.. |

Li & Fung USA Buys Regatta

NEW YORK – Li & Fung USA has acquired Regatta Pacific Alliance for a minimum of $145 million – a move that puts the companies at the forefront of proprietary brand development.
The deal is expected to close by the end of the month. Industry sources in Hong Kong Li & Fung Ltd., could pay an additional amount in “excess of $100 million” if certain earn-out targets are met. Earn-out agreements in mergers and acquisitions deals typically are over a five-year period, said investment bankers not connected with the Li & Fung and Regatta transaction.
Rick Darling, president of Li & Fung USA, said Haim Dabah will continue to serve as chief executive officer of Regatta, and will also become a member of the Li & Fung USA..
